Shivaay Title Song

So, I have listened to this song some 100 times maybe and I am yet to get bored by this song. This is a modern day song about Shiva The God which describes him. The music is really catchy but it’s the lyrics that sets it apart as the best song of 2016(for me).

I am not talking about the movie here but just the song.

The song has been sung by Mithoon, Mohit Chauhan, Sukhwinder singh, Megha Sriram Dalton, Anurag.

The main part of the song is Rap which has been sung by Badshah.

There had been news that this song took over 1 year to write down and that does shows up.

I have given below line by line description of the lyrics.

Lyrics translation credits – Krazy lyrics

Aag bahe teri rag mein

Tujhsa kahaan koi jag mein

Hai waqt ka tu hi toh pehla pehar

Tu aankh jo khole toh dhaaye kehar

Fire flows in your veins

There is none like you in this world

You are the first moment of time (Pehar is a traditional unit of time used in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. One pehar nominally equals three hours, and there are eight pehars in a day.)

When you open your eye, you cause destruction (The last line is an allusion to third eye of the God Shiva. It is present on Shiva’s forehead, mostly it is closed.Whosoever is unlucky enough to be viewed by this third eye is destroyed on the spot. Read more about it here.)

Toh bolo Har har har

Say, everyone! Toh bolo Har har har

Na Aadi na anth hai uska

Woh sabka na inka unka

Wohi hai maala wohi hai manka

Mast malang woh apni dhun ka

He has no beginning or end

He is for everyone, not just a single person

He is the garland as well as the beads in it

He is carefree and happy in his own tune

Jantar mantar tantar gyaani

Hai sarvagya swabhimaani

Mrityunjay hai mahavinaashi

Omkaar hai isi ki vaani

He knows all about talismans, magical chants and magical texts

He is all knowing(omniscient) and self respecting

He is the conqueror of death and the great destroyer

His language is Omkaar (The sound of the sacred syllable Om)

Isi ki Isi ki Isi ki vaani

Isi ki Isi ki Isi ki vaani

Bhaang dhatoora bel ka patta

Teeno lok isi ki satta

Vish pee kar bhi adag amar hai

Mahadev har har hai japta

Bhang, datura, leaves of Aegle marmelos tree (These tree leaves are offered to Lord Shiva.) (Bhaang is an edible preparation of cannabis. It is often given as sacrament to the devotees of Lord Shiva.)

He has power over all the three words (earth, heaven and hell) He is steady and immortal even after drinking poison (Lord Shiva drank posion during the churning of the ocean by Devas and Asuras)

Mahadev (Lord of Lords) chants ‘Everyone’!

Wohi shunya vahi ikaai

Wohi shunya vahi ikaai

Wohi shunya vahi ikaai

Jiske bheetar basa Shivaay

He is zero(0) as well as one (1),

He in whom resides Shivaay(God Shiv)

Aghoranna paro mantra

Nasti tatvam guro param

The very name of Aghor (Shiva, or the one who has attained the state of Aghor) is a mantra that is above all other mantras. There is nothing higher to be known than the real nature of the Guru (spiritual teacher)
Nagendra haraya trilochanaya

Basmanga ragaya maheshwaraya

Nithyaya shudhaya digambaraya

Tasmai nakaraya namashivaya

My salutations to the letter “Na” , which is Shiva, Who wears as garland the king of snakes. Who has three eyes, Who wears ash all over Him, Who is the greatest Lord, Who is forever, Who is the cleanest,

And who wears the directions themselves as dress

Aankh moond kar dekh raha hai

Saath samay ke khel raha hai

Mahadev maha ekaaki Jiske liye jagat hai jhaanki

He(Shiv) is watching with closed eyes (eyes closed in meditaion)

He is playing with time

The God of Gods is the loneliest

For him the world is a mere exhibit

Jata mein Ganga, chaand mukut hai

Saumya kabhi kabhi bada vikat hai

Aag se janma hai kailashi

Shakti jiski daras ki pyaasi

He has the river Ganges tied in his hair, his crown is the moon

Sometimes he is gentle, sometimes he is dreadful

This Kailashi(one who lives in Kailash) is born from fire Goddess Shakti longs to see him

Hai pyaasi Haan pyaasi

Ram bhi uska ravan uska

Jeevan uska maran bhi uska

Tandav hai aur dhayan bhi woh hai

Agyaani ka gyaan bhi woh hai

Ram as well as Raavan belong to him

Life as well as death belong to him

He is chaos as well as meditation

He is knowledge for the ignorant

Aankh teesri jab yeh khole

Hile dhara aur swarg bhi doley

Goonj uthe har disha kshitij mein

Naam usi ka Bam Bam Bhole

When Lord Shiva opens his third eye, This world as well as the heaven shakes

His name echoes in every direction and on the horizon Bam Bam Bhole (The first letter of the first word of the Ramayan is ‘Ba’.

The last letter of the last word is ‘Ma’. Between Ba and Ma is the entire Ramayan, which is in praise of Shiva’s favorite deity, Vishnu in the form of Ram. Bhole means ‘simple’. Shiva’s life is simple.)

Wohi shunya vahi ikaay

Wohi shunya vahi ikaay

Wohi shunya vahi ikaay

Jiske bheetar basa Shivaay

Toh bolo Har har har

Ja ja Kailash Ja kar vinaash

Ja ja Kailash Ja kar vinaash

Go to Kailash (Mount Kailash is where Lord Shiva lives)

Go and destroy

Toh bolo Har har har

Ja ja Kailash

Ja kar vinaash

Ja ja Kailash

Ja kar vinaash

Yaksha swarupaya jatta dharaya

Pinaka hasthathaya sanathanaya

Divyaya devaaya digambaraya

Tasmai yakaraya namashivaya

My salutations to the letter “Ya” , which is Shiva,

Who takes the form of Yaksha,

Who has a tufted hair,

Who is armed with spear,

Who is forever filled with peace,

Who is godly,

Who is the great God,

And who wears the directions themselves as dress.

    1. Yup both are beautiful songs but this has something strange thing which keeps me pulling towards it. Maybe because it is about explaining a God and I love Shiva as a God. 😁
